YOU ARE HERE (FOR NOW) by Adam JK

Adam J. Kurtz (aka Adam JK) is a designer, artist, and speaker whose illustrative work is rooted in honesty, humor and a little darkness. Kurtz speaks frankly about channeling human emotion into our art, and generally just trying to be more okay with whatever we've got. His latest book, You Are Here (For Now), was released by Penguin Random House in October 2021.

You Are Here (For Now) is a candid collection of essays and artwork is full of reflections, encouragement, and insights on the theme of personal transformation—realistic perspectives to help you move from “staying alive” to nurturing and celebrating the person you know you really are. These pages explore mental health, identity, handling setbacks, and finding humor in the unknown—and will be a touchstone for seekers, graduates, creatives, and anyone who’s trying to figure out what’s next (and maybe even feel a little hopeful about it).

The opening night began with meet & greet followed by a book read from Adam.  We also invited Sage Creamery (@sagecreamery), a Honolulu based ice cream company for a little treat.

Adam's exhibit You Are Here (For Now) will be on view until January 15th 2022 at BĀS Bookshop.
