SHAME! AND MASCULINITY
#MeToo movement started as a way for survivors of sexual assault, sexual harassment, and sexual bullying to bond and share their stories but grew into more, global movement. This movement sparked a need for change, both in a social and legal aspect. Since the movement begun, the practice of toxic masculine power was actively criticized and left a large impact on the influence men had for their self-image and self-esteem. Shame! and Masculinity explores both positions of shame, the representation of male sexuality, nudity, fatherhood, violence, rape, fascism and virility, and men and war from male as well as female point-of-view.
Shame! and Masculinity features artwork that communicates the intricacies and contradictions of these sociocultural constructs and realities, and combines scholarly essays with short stories and personal testimonies.
